In the glass, rich, medium-dark color is exposed with a slight purple hue. On the nose, the wine exhibits a bouquet of red currant and blackberries up front followed by a hint of creme de cassis, dusty undertone reminiscent of the rich, red volcanic soil. On the palate, the wine exhibits well integrated tannins with underlying notes of dark blackberry and black currant fruit. The wine finishes with hints of tobacco and leather along deep, dark layers of fruit and firm tannins which provide structure into the finish, which will allow this wine to age well.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is outrageously beautiful. A wine of extraordinary purity, the 2019 dazzles right out of the gate. The tannins are nearly silky for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, rose petal and pomegranate all build in this sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is one of the most elegant Cabernets I have tasted here, and that is saying something What a wine!

Powerful, ripe black fig and black cherry flavors are shaded by fresh mint, thyme and dark chocolate in this full-bodied, muscularly tannic wine. Good acidity and the fine-grained tannins provide great structure for further aging and complexity. Best from 2027-2040.
