The nose shows a classical Maipo Valley Cabernet. It's well-crafted, with nuances of oak and ripe fruit that are nicely balanced by elegant texture and excellent acidity. Chocolate is followed by plum flavors in the earthy finish.

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Escudo Rojo Origine Cabernet, from Isla de Maipo, spent 14 months in 25% new barrels. Garnet red in hue. The nose presents notes of ripe sour cherry and hints of balsam and black currant. Sugary in the mouth with reactive tannins and a medium volume, it's slightly taut and tacky on the gums. The year gives it a lick of alcohol.

This red plays to the savory side, though subtly, with eucalyptus and dried mint nuances to a berry and cassis core, which stretches out nicely midpalate around fresh acidity. Concludes with slightly chewy tannins. Drink now. 3,867 cases made, 500 cases imported.
